It is not. Stage 1 takes riders from Hermanus to Oak Valley, and Stage 3 from Oak Valley to Lourensford, with a looping stage in the middle for Stage 2; but the trails will not be the exact same ones as were ridden in the past.

There will not be more climbing in the 2021 FNB Wines2Whales Switchback as compared to previous editions.

Yes, you are not allowed to ride down the Gantouw pass. You will be required to walk with your bike during this mandatory portage section.

Yes. Riders will have the opportunity to either collect their Race Pack at Lourensford the day before the start or on the morning of Stage 1 at Curro in Hermanus.

The entry fees for the 2021 FNB Wines2Whales Switchback were as follows:

  • Meals Only: R13 250
  • Standard Tents: R14 950
  • Double Luxury Tents: R20 950 per team
  • Single Luxury Tents: R22 150 per team (each rider gets their own luxury tent)
  • Ride Only: R11 400 per team

We don’t cross the beach during the 2021 FNB W2W Switchback due to the start being at Curro.

No; we are not utilising the lower Hemel en Aarde trails. Instead the route goes up Rotary Drive which will spread out the field. From the top, you’ll get to experience different Hemel en Aarde trails from the Hamilton Russell side.

No; the route will remain on Karwyderskraal Road to avoid Sandy Patch.

Don’t stress! The Cape Trails team is building the Gaf se Bos exit – they’re shaping a spectacular switchback climb.

In 2021, the Houw Hoek Switchbacks will not feature in the FNB Wines2Whales Switchback. Instead we’re heading through Brynaforfarm Bypass.
